Cracks, Potholes, and Fading Lines Wreak Havoc on a Northwest Chicago Parking Lot
In Northwest Chicago, an open parking lot between Panera Bread and American Mattress was in need of swift repairs. Wear and tear had caused the development of large potholes and areas where cracking had previously been patched up had grown larger. On top of this all, the worn-out line painting and custom stenciling had become worn out and difficult to see. This was particularly problematic for Panera Bread’s drive-thru lane, as well as any pedestrians trying to navigate through faded crosswalks and hatched areas.
Our prompt responses to customer inquiries and questions helped us win the job. We inspected the property quickly to generate a proposal that detailed every problem area and how we would fix it. Our detailed quote also provided competitive pricing and a quick turnaround time for the work.
EverLine Coatings to the Rescue
We performed nearly all of our core services in this parking lot. We repaired 750 linear feet of larger cracks, starting with a high-pressure heat lance to blow out debris and rocks while burning away vegetation before filling them. We identified 15 different 6’x3′ areas of asphalt with holes, spidering, voids, and previous patches, rejuvenating it with our infrared hot-mix asphalt repair. With the asphalt’s structural integrity restored, it was time for the finishing touches. After blowing, sweeping and oil spot priming the lot, we applied a coat of our ExpertSeal Resisto Asphalt Sealant to all 37,500 square feet.
Finally, it was time to get to work on line striping. When all was said and done, we’d created 81 standard yellow parking stall lines, 11 yellow parking tree middle lines, 4 yellow handicap logos, 8 yellow arrows, 5 yellow hatching areas, and 2 yellow crosswalk areas. Of course, we couldn’t leave the drive-thru unmarked. We stenciled guides for the drive-thru and a mobile pick-up lane along with white stop bars.

The final results looked fantastic and our clients were thrilled with the results, especially considering how quickly we made them happen. The weather hadn’t been the greatest, but we communicated well about our progress concerning the forecast of rain.
