Overnight Runway Restoration Keeps XNA National Airport Running Smoothly

EverLine Coatings completed overnight runway restoration at Northwest Arkansas National Airport using FAA-approved materials without disrupting daily flight operations.

Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) plays a vital role in connecting the region to major destinations. With over one million travelers passing through each year, the airport’s infrastructure endures constant use from aircraft, service vehicles, and maintenance crews.

Over time, the asphalt on the maintenance access roads, blastpad, and runway skirts began to show visible signs of wear. The XNA operations team needed a trusted partner who could restore the pavement while maintaining the strict safety and scheduling requirements of an active airfield.

Meeting a Complex Airfield Challenge

Airports present unique challenges when it comes to pavement maintenance. Every task must align with FAA standards, security protocols, and the airport’s flight schedule. The work had to be performed during overnight hours, with crews clearing the area well before the first morning flights.

EverLine Coatings was chosen for the project because of our proven ability to work efficiently in high-security environments and to deliver results that meet both safety and performance expectations.

The Services That Brought the Surface Back to Life

EverLine Coatings performed asphalt crack filling and sealcoating across multiple areas of the airfield, including nearly two miles of runway skirts.

The materials selected were FAA-approved, ensuring that the finished surface could withstand temperature fluctuations, jet exhaust, and heavy operational traffic. Sealcoating provided an added layer of protection against oxidation, water intrusion, and fuel exposure, extending the life of the asphalt and preserving the airport’s investment in its infrastructure.

How the Work Was Completed

To accommodate the airport’s schedule, all work was completed overnight between midnight and 7 a.m. Multiple teams worked across different sections simultaneously, using mobile lighting and generator-powered systems to maintain visibility and safety in the dark.

Daily site inspections were conducted to verify quality and ensure the runway area remained secure. EverLine Coatings coordinated closely with Ambrozi Airfield Division of St. Joseph, Missouri, which managed other maintenance activities during the same window. This collaboration allowed both teams to stay aligned and minimize downtime.

A Successful Outcome for the Airport

After more than six weeks of coordinated night work, the project was completed smoothly and on schedule. The client expressed appreciation for EverLine’s professionalism, adaptability, and consistent communication throughout the process. Even under tight time constraints and changing weather conditions, our crews maintained high standards and kept the project moving without affecting airport operations.
