Supporting Safe Operations in a High-Traffic Warehouse
A large community food bank in Calgary was experiencing increasing demand as more families sought assistance with rising food costs. As warehouse operations became busier, volunteers required clearly designated areas for sorting, staging, and packaging food hampers. With warehouse space at a premium and constant activity throughout the facility, maintaining a safe and organized environment became increasingly important. Having worked with the organization for years on crack filling and parking lot line painting projects, EverLine Coatings was already a trusted partner. When the need arose for interior warehouse floor markings, the organization turned to EverLine Coatings to help improve safety and workflow inside the facility.

Creating Clear Pathways and Work Zones
To support safe warehouse operations, EverLine Coatings completed a phased interior floor marking project that included:
- Removal of outdated tape and unnecessary floor markings
- Shot blasting and grinding to prepare existing surfaces
- Installation of green epoxy walkways and crosswalks
- Application of yellow epoxy borders for enhanced visibility
- Addition of red floor markings in designated areas
- Greying out obsolete markings that were no longer required
The updated floor marking system created clearly defined pathways and work zones throughout the facility.
Completing the Work Around an Active Volunteer Schedule
Because the warehouse remained active throughout the week, EverLine Coatings developed a phased installation schedule designed to minimize disruption. Work was completed over multiple weekends, allowing each area to be returned to service by Monday morning.
The process began each Friday after hours with surface preparation and the application of green epoxy walkways. On Saturdays, the first coat of yellow epoxy was applied to outline the walkways and crosswalks. The team then returned on Sundays to apply a second coat of yellow epoxy, remove masking materials, and prepare the area for use. Existing tape and outdated markings were removed through shot blasting or grinding before new markings were installed. As operational needs evolved throughout the project, EverLine Coatings remained flexible, incorporating additional red markings and modifying layouts as requested by the client.
A More Organized and Efficient Space
The completed floor marking system provided the facility with clearly designated pedestrian walkways, crosswalks, staging areas, and traffic routes. The updated markings improved visibility throughout the warehouse and helped support safer movement for volunteers and staff working in a busy environment.
The client was very pleased with both the finished work and the flexibility shown throughout the project. They particularly appreciated the teams ability to accommodate schedule requirements and incorporate additional items as the project progressed.
